One Found Sound is a democratic orchestra focused on equitable and barrier-free music. The Bay Area’s only conductorless, democratic, and musician-run orchestra, our annual programs include exciting orchestral performances, educational programs for underserved youth, and new music commissions focused on supporting works by diverse peoples. Our concerts are held in relaxed, unexpected venues where audiences are invited to experience the thrill of live orchestral music just as it inspires them.

One Found Sound recognizes the need to expand our knowledge of the classical cannon to include works by diverse composers. We commit to creating meaningful programming that expresses the unifying value we place on the contributions of the diverse peoples that make up our community.

This is not your typical classical music experience!
You are an important part of each and every concert. One Found Sound performs in unexpected spaces where you are invited to sit closely and experience the music just as it inspires you. OFS always performs without a stage and without a conductor, and without the traditional barriers of the concert hall, we are able to share incredible music with you closely and personally. And don’t forget to stick around and say hi after our shows!
Every concert includes a majority of music by composers historically underrepresented in classical music. Operating without a conductor or single artistic director, our creative vision is placed entirely in the hands of our artists: all artistic decisions—from the length of a single note to our programming each season—are made democratically to bring you exciting and truly collaborative performances.
